This time I am going on a trip to Romania. It is a trip that has long been on the top of my mind, but I never really managed to go there, since I never found anyone interested in travelling there. Sure, I could have gone solo, like when I visited Japan, but I would rather have a companion or two this time around. And so, tomorrow, we are about to embark on a journey to Romania.
At the time of writing the plan was already made and we have already reserved all the accommodations. We will be travelling by car, which makes the trip a lot easier and gives us the ability to visit a larger variety of places, since we are not limited to public transport. From what I have read, public transport in Romania is not very reliable outside of larger cities.
The plan is roughly the following. Starting in Slovenia, we will travel via Budapest and likely arrive in Timisoara early in the afternoon. There we will have the first taste of what Romania is all about. We will tour the city and later in the afternoon enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the local restaurants. In the city we will visit various attractions such as the communist museum, a church and some other interesting places that we might come across.
The next day we will visit the city of Hunedoara, where we will be transported to the Medival times in the Corvin castle – one of the largest castles in Europe and a part of the Seven wonders of Romania.
On the third day, we will visit the city of Sibiu and later in the afternoon Bucharest – the capital city of Romania. Sibiu is a famous Medival city, so it will complement the visit to the castle very well.
The fourth day will be spent exploring the capital city of Bucharest. Since on that day we will not be driving anywhere, we will be able to thoroughly explore the city while enjoying great food and hopefully great weather. One of the things that we intend to visit include: the parliament, a cool looking bookstore, a gypsy second-hand market, the old town centre, and perhaps, just for the memes, Andrew Tate’s house. Dude is a crook, but he sis quite a meme on the internet, in any case.
The fifth day will be spent in Bucharest and Brasov. We will visit the Peles castle, perhaps the Bran castle, and the bear reserve.
The sixth day will be spent in Sigisoara. On this day we might visit any of the attractions that we have not managed to visit the day before, or we will find some other interesting things in the city.
The seventh day is the day that I am probably looking forward to the most. We will be visiting the Turda salt mine, the Scarisoara glacier cave and Garda de sus. I am particularly interested in seeing the salt mine, because it has been very long since I visited a mine on any sorts. And this salt mine, at least from the pictures online, looks just amazing. I will be taking a lot of photos and posting them here every day.
As for the last two days, we will continue to Budapest and spend the night there. There, we will be meeting a friend of ours, who is from Budapest. Although I have already been to Budapest twice, I am looking forward to seeing the city through the eyes of a Hungarian this time around.
This is the trip in a nutshell. I think not everything will go according to the plan – we might visit a thing more or a thing less. As I write about the journey every day, you, the reader, will be able to see how things really went. But honestly, whatever the case, I am sure we will have a lot of fun! Să avem parte de aventuri minunate! – Let’s have wonderful adventures!
